INF Update Utility - Primarily for Intel® 6, 5, 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets (R) Chipset Device Software, production version Intel Capella-Arrandale (HM57) - HM57 Express Chipset Family; Intel(R) 4 Series Chipset Processor to I/O Controller ; Intel(R) 4 Series Chipset Processor to I/O Controller - 2E00 The Intel(R) Chipset Device Software installs Windows* INF files to the target system. These files outline to the operating system how to configure the Intel(R) chipset components in order to ensure that the following features function properly: - Core PCI and ISAPNP Services - PCIe Support - IDE/ATA33/ATA66/ATA100 Storage Support - SATA Storage Support - USB Support - Identification of Intel(R) Chipset Components in the Device Manager This software can be installed in three modes: Interactive, Silent and Unattended Preload. Interactive Mode requires user input during installation; Silent Mode and Unattended Preload do not. This software also offers a set of command line flags, which provide additional installation choices. The command line flags are not case sensitive. Refer to Section 4 for detailed descriptions of these flags. Important Note: The Intel(R) Chipset Device Software is distributed in two formats: self extracting .EXE files (INFINST_AUTOL.EXE) or compressed .ZIP files (INFINST_AUTOL.ZIP). Depending on which distribution format is being executed, the commandline syntax may differ. Refer to Section 4 for more details. Want to save time? Not sure if you need this file? About this file/download: The Intel® Chipset Device Software installs the Windows* INF files. An INF is a text file that provides the operating system with information about a piece of hardware on the system. In the case of the current Intel Chipset Device Software, that information is primarily the product name for the piece of hardware. This allows the operating system to show the correct name for that piece of hardware in Device Manager. **Important** The Intel Chipset Device Software does not install drivers for AGP or USB. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS UTILITY IF YOUR DEVICE MANUFACTURER IS RECOMMENDING IT TO CORRECT AN AGP DRIVER, AGP GART, OR USB DRIVER ISSUE; IT WILL NOT CORRECT YOUR ISSUE.
